The Tbilisi International Archival Film Festival – 2024

THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF THE MINISTRY OF JUSTICE OF GEORGIA CALLS FOR FILM SUBMISSIONS FOR THE 3RD TBILISI INTERNATIONAL ARCHIVAL FILM FESTIVAL

 

The 3rd Tbilisi International Archival Film Festival will be held on September 17-20, 2024, organized by the National Archives of Georgia.

The venue of the festival will be the cinema hall of the National Archives of Georgia (address: 1 Vazha-Pshavela Avenue, Tbilisi, Georgia 0160)

The festival’s theme for 2024 is – “Cinema – Chronicler of History”

Film documents depicting various historical events, preserved in the archives, museums, and other institutions of Georgia and foreign countries a single film or a film program (documentary, fiction, animation, newsreel, etc.) – are eligible to participate.

Timing limit: 1 hour. Additionally, organizations participating in the festival will also be able to hold presentations (for no more than 15 minutes).

A new feature of the 2024 film festival will be a panel discussion section that will provide an opportunity for panelists to share insights, experiences, and perspectives on the importance and challenges of film archiving.

Topics for a panel discussion:

·         Preservation of film documents and challenges

·         Digital preservation and modern approaches

·         Film Restoration

·         Cultural legacy, national identity, and social context

·         Copyright and rights holders

·         Collaboration and partnership between film archives

·         Future trends

The deadline for submission of the entry and the supporting material is June 25, 2024.
