Gelati Monastery was captured by the expedition of the National Archives on photos and video footage in early 2015.
The Georgian architectural ensemble built in the 12th-13th centuries in the Tskaltsitela river valley is interesting for its architecture, painting and historical-cultural purpose.
The monastery was founded in 1106 by Davit Agmashenebeli. The complex includes: the main cathedral named after the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, St. George's Church, St. Nicholas church, belfry, academy, Fence. Davit Agmashenebeli's grave is here.
Gelati Monastery is included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.
