An exhibition on Georgian church painting from the beginning of the 20th century was opened in the National Archives

The exhibition pavilion of the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia is hosting the exhibition “Georgian Church Painting 1900-1921”, which brings to life outstanding places, people, and creations related to Georgian church painting of the mentioned period.

The visitors of the exhibition will get acquainted with the art of church painting by self-taught and professional Georgian and foreign artists (Dimitri Shevardnadze, Henryk Hryniewski, Valerian Sidamon-Eristavi, etc.) working in Georgia at the beginning of the 20th century.

The exhibits are preserved in the National Archives of Georgia and the family archives of the artists, as well as being collected from the current period and as a result of the study of church paintings.

The curator of the exhibition is artist and doctor of art studies Ana Mgaloblishvili.

The exhibition will last till May 5.
