The third international festival of archival films concluded at the National Archives of Georgia’s cinema with a screening of Nana Mchedlidze’s The First Swallow, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of actor Dodo Abashidze’s birth.
From September 17 to 20, Georgian audiences enjoyed nearly 30 feature, documentary, and animated films on the theme "Cinema – Chronicler of History," featuring works preserved by film archives from Georgia, the United States, the Czech Republic, Malta, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Croatia, Poland, Estonia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Peru, and Moldova.
The festival welcomed several prominent guests, including Charles Farrugia, Head of the National Archives of Malta; Michal Bregant, Director of the Czech National Archives; Rui Machado, representative of the Portuguese Cinematheque; Heidi Holmstrom from the U.S. National Archives; Galia Zhekova from the Bulgarian National Film Archive; and Aurelia Felia from Moldova’s National Archival Agency.
The Tbilisi International Festival of Archival Films was established by the National Archives of Georgia in 2022.
