A Multimedia Exhibition Dedicated to Sesilia Takaishvili

The National Archive of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia has dedicated an online exhibition to the legendary Georgian actress on the 115th anniversary from her birth.

The multimedia exposition became available 1 day before the actresses’ birthday - September 16 - at the following link: https://archive.gov.ge/ge/sesilia-taqaishvili-1.

Sesilia Takaishvili was born on September 17, 1906 in Batumi. She started her acting career in theater and played up to 120 roles in various plays. Her contribution to Georgian cinematography is equally as valuable, as she had acted in over 40 films from 1945 to 1983.

The exhibition includes photos from film productions and theatrical performances, as well as posters, excerpts from the documentary "Sesilia Takaishvili", audio recordings and written documents.

Among the photos are footage from films: “Abezara” (1956), “Our Yard” (1957), “Manana” (1958), “Young One from Sabudara” (1958), “Me, Grandma, Iliko and Ilarion” (1962), "Dolls Laugh" (1963), etc. In addition, the viewers will also see the photos of Cecilia Takaishvili's family album, which depicts her performing the following theatrical roles: Susanna in the play "The Marriage of Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro)" (1937); Friday in the play "Spark" (1937); Prudence in the play "Margarita Gauthier" (1940); Duchess Galzburg in the play "Ryu Blaze" (1941); Katherina in the play "The Taming of the Shrew" (1943); Baroness Shtral in the play "Masquerade" (1946); Queen Elizabeth in the play "Mary Stuart" (1955).
