National Archives of Georgia is the Associated Member of FIAF

Audio-Visual Archive of the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia became an associated member of the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF). The decision was made in April, 2013 on the congress hold in Barcelona. Nino Dzandzava, deputy director of the Central Audio-Visual Archive participated in the congress.

Membership of FIAF will give opportunity to the National Archive to broaden the connections with the other member archives of this organization, to participate in joint initiatives and projects, to popularize its own collections on international scale, prepare film presentations, search for the information about Georgian films and films connected with Georgia, preserved at the member archives and museums of FIAF.

FIAF unites the archives who consider the films as a part of cultural heritage and historical documents. Their activities are directed for the preservation and conservation of the films.

FIAF was founded in 1938, in Paris. It represents the association of world’s major film archives. Its aim is to care for the proper conservation and presentations of the films. More than 150 archives of the 77 countries are united in the organization.
