The National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia received 57,079 files containing written materials, 161 film documents, 2,080 photographs, 573 audio recordings, 113 books, and 377 issues of periodicals in 2024.
The collection includes materials from both state institutions and documents preserved in private archives.
Among the recently obtained materials, the National Archives received family photographs, manuscripts, and publications related to the life and work of the actor Dodo Abashidze, donated by his family.
Furthermore, the family of the film director Rezo Esadze donated film reels of his movies including "Nylon Christmas Tree," "Love at First Sight," and "The Ceiling," as well as photos from the film sets and archival materials from the experimental studio "Debut."
The audio collection was further enriched with recordings from the personal archive of singer Nani Bregvadze. The collection includes recorded romances and pop songs by Nani Bregvadze, Vakhtang Kikabidze, Gogi Dolidze, Eka Mamaladze, and the ensembles "Oresa" and "Melodia," recorded on magnetic tapes, gramophone records, and audio cassettes. The collection also contains nearly 400 photographs, concert posters, programs, letters, and other documents reflecting Nani Bregvadze’s life and career.
In addition, following the decision of the family of Shalva Kiguradze, a victim of the 1937 repressions, archival documents related to the life and career of the esteemed engineer will now be preserved in the National Archives. Shalva Kiguradze is recognized for his contributions to the establishment of the balneological resort in Tbilisi and the Natakhtari reservoir.
These materials were received throughout 2024.
