A delegation from the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia paid a working visit to the Republic of Poland at the invitation of the State Archives of Poland. Within the framework of the visit, members of the delegation learned about the experience of their Polish colleagues and the operations of local archives.

Ilia Lomidze, Head of the Infrastructure Development Service of the National Archives, and Sophio Jobava, Head of the Public and International Relations Division, toured the State Archives in Warsaw as well as the newly opened archival infrastructure in Kraków and Katowice. The heads of the host archives presented the guests with modern approaches to document storage management, the latest climate control, ventilation, and fire suppression systems operating there, ongoing work in restoration laboratories, reading rooms, and outstanding historical documents preserved in the archival collections. 

During the visit, the delegation met with Paweł Pietrzyk, Director General of the State Archives of Poland, and discussed prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation. The parties agreed that Georgian conservators will visit the restoration laboratory of the State Archives of Poland to exchange professional experience.

The visit of the National Archives delegation to the Republic of Poland will further strengthen the long-standing partnership and professional ties between the archives of Georgia and Poland.
