The Laboratory of Restoration of the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia proceeds with the restoration and conservation of the old documents. The restorers are strengthening the ink, processing the damaged places and cleaning up more than 100 documents of the 17th-18th centuries kept at the Historical Archive.
The collection of the originals of the old documents of the Historical Archive is one of the richest. It consists 10 940 documents of the 11th-19th centuries. The majority of the documents are written on the paper, the other part – on parchments, scrolls and separate papers.
In 2015 the Laboratory of Restoration restored 23 807 papers, 437 photos, 14 books, 126 newspapers, 85 drafts and 20 maps.
