The National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia continues to hold exhibitions in regions on the First Democratic Republic of Georgia. Today an exhibition presenting the history of 1918-1921 was opened in Gurjaani Public Service Hall.
The exhibition consists of written documents and photo materials depicting the independence of Georgia in the first 3 years of the First Republic (1918-1921).
The variety of the preserved material in the archives reflects important events of the above mentioned period of Georgian history such as: the restoration of the state sovereignty and the establishment of the government of the independent Georgia; The high legislative body – holding the elections of the Constituent Assembly, in which representatives of the both genders participated and five of more than 20 women among the registered candidates became members of the Constituent Assembly; Accepting the first constitution and etc.
It has to be noted that 100 years have passed since the creation of the First Republic of Georgia.
The anniversary date will be celebrated by the National Archives with numerous events such as the exhibition “The First Democratic Republic of Georgia”, which will be held in all regions of Georgia throughout the year.
The exhibition in the Public Service Hall of Gurjaani will go on for two weeks.
