On October 26, within the framework of “Kolga Tbilisi Photo“, Giglo Karalashvili’s unique photo exhibition – “Giglo Karalashvili’s Stereo Photography” was opened in the exhibition pavilion of the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia. Giglo Karalashvili was Georgian general, singer, photographer, one of the most prominent members of Artana aristocrat family, working at the turn of the 19th-20th centuries. This collection, preserved in the National Archives, was exhibited for the first time on this scale.
The collection mainly includes photos taken during his travel in different European countries in 1900-1910 - France, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain, Italy. The general's lens has also captured military holiday marches in Tbilisi, private houses, public gatherings, etc. One of the characteristics of the uniqueness of his photo collection is the stereo image, which adds a special charm to the shots taken by him.
A military officials and a culture guardian photo collection, combining 770 negatives and 60 positives, was donated by Giglo Karalashvilis family to the Georgian National Archives in 1963.
The exhibition will last until November 20 in the exhibition hall of the National Archives. Visiting the exhibition is free.
