A presentation of the first volume of Sargis Kakabadze’s work “The History of Georgia from Ancient Times to the 14th Century” - “Georgia from Ancient Times to the 3rd Century” - was held at the Exhibition Pavilion of the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.
The book includes a previously unpublished work preserved in the scholar's personal archive. The materials are highly diverse and reflect the historian’s early scholarly views, some of which he later revised.
The presentation was opened by the Director General of the National Archives of Georgia, Teona Iashvili. The significance of the publication was discussed by Deputy Minister of Justice Merab Turava, Sargis Kakabadze’s granddaughter Tsira Kalandadze, the book’s editor Temo Jojua, as well as representatives of the National Academy of Sciences, Tbilisi State University, and other academic and educational institutions.
The electronic version of the book is available at the following link: https://archive.gov.ge/ge/sametsniero-publikatsiebi/sakartvelos-istoria-udzvelesi-droidan-xiv-saukunemde-pirveli-tomi-sakartvelo-udzvelesi-droidan-iii-saukunemde-1
It should be noted that Sargis Kakabadze served for many years as the head of the Georgian Historical Archive. In agreement with his descendants, the National Archives is currently actively working on the publication of the multi-volume work “History of the Georgian Nation,” based on materials preserved in the personal archive of the renowned Georgian historian and source scholar.
