Nearly 27,000 sheets were restored in the Restoration Laboratory of the National Archives

26,527 sheets of archival documents, 140 photos, 144 newspapers, and 74 technical (project-related) drawings were restored during 2024 in the Restoration Laboratory of the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.

The documents include historical, contemporary, and audiovisual items that have been kept at the central archives. Notably, the National Archive's 17th-century ecclesiastical book, Sinaxarion, has been fully restored.

The restorers of the national Archives also completed the restoration of the 12th-13th century Kurashi Gospel, written on parchment and containing palimpsest sheets. The manuscript was returned to the village of Kurashi in the Mestia district.

The national Archive uses modern restoration materials and technologies in the restoration process, which contributes to better preservation and long-term safeguarding of archival documents.
