Summer School “First Democratic Republic of Georgia” will be opened tomorrow at the National Archives

The National Archives of Georgia, with the support of Shota Rustaveli National Science foundation will hold the Summer School “First Democratic Republic of Georgia (1918-1921)” on July 17-23.

The Summer School will be opened on July 17, 10:00 p.m. at the exhibition hall of the National Archives of Georgia. Together with the listeners and the lecturers Deputy Director of the Minister of Justice, David Jandieri, General Director of the National Archives of Georgia, Teona Iashvili, representatives of Shota Rustaveli National Science foundation and other guests.

The summer School has 20 listeners, among them 15 foreign and 5 local citizens.

The aim of the project is to acquaint the foreign and the Georgian participants with the political, economic, social and cultural life of the First Democratic Republic of Georgia.

Leading Georgian experts will read for attendees 23 lectures during 7 days. There will be 5 modules: Democratic Institutes; Republic and Foreign Countries; Military Affairs; Economic, Culture, Religion, Human Rights, Mass-Media; Practice. Sharing of opinions in frames of roundtable debates will be organized. The participants will be taken to cultural sightseeing tours, museums; they will get acquainted with primary archival sources, photos and cinematography of the respective period.

In the frame of the project Georgian scientists – professors Dimitri shvelidze, Otar Janelidze, Malkhaz Matsaberidze; young scientists – doctoral candidates in History Beka Kobakhidze, Giorgi Gaprindashvili, dimitri Silakadze; as well as, the employees of the National Archives – Antona Vacharadze, Ketevan Asatiani and Nino Dzandzava will give the lectures.
