“Today we have signed a Memorandum that enables fruitful cooperation between the National Archives and GNFC. This will enable to preserve this collection of films created with the support of Georgian National Film Center for the future generations", - stated Teona Iashvili.

“We have cooperated with the National Archives for a long time. I am confident we will carry out numerous new and interesting projects. This Memorandum is very important, because the films supported and restored by GNFC should be preserved for future generations, and the National Archives provides favorable conditions for their maintenance. Besides, these films and tapes will be available for scholars and all interested persons", - noted Nana Janelidze.

The Memorandum of Cooperation implies that every year digital copies of films financed by GNFC, as well as the photos related to the shooting process will be submitted to the National Archives for permanent maintenance. Besides, the National Archives will be provided with digital copies of restored films and printed versions of projects – winners of financing competitions announced by GNFC. The given document also envisages the implementation of joint projects, exchange of information and sharing of novelties.

It should be mentioned that about 35 000 film documents are preserved at the National Archives. The collection embraces documentaries, chronicles, film magazines and small number of feature films. The materials provided by GNFC to the National Archives will form a valuable collection to be preserved for future generations.
