The next volume IV of manuscript descriptions in the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia has been prepared for publication. Currently, 400 manuscripts have been described according to international standards.

Among the newly described manuscripts are: the Gospel of Anchi, the Gospel of Kalmakh Castle, “The Life of St. George in Verse”, the Lavsaikon, Gulani of Shiomghvime, ascetic writings, hymnographic collections, and others. Previously unknown colophons and inscriptions were revealed during working, the dates of the manuscripts were re-dated and specified, and in some cases the texts included in separate collections were re-identified.

One of the richest collection of the Georgian manuscripts is preserved in the National Archives, which includes about 100 manuscripts. Before resuming work on their descriptions, scientists were guided by descriptions printed in 1950. In 2014, the project “Analytical Catalog of Manuscripts” was launched at the National Archives and new standards for the description of manuscripts were created. The first, second, and third volumes of the description were published in 2016-2019. The fourth volume will include descriptions of manuscripts numbered 301 to 400 in the collection.
