The National Archives of Georgia Participated in the 34th ICARUS Convention

A delegation from the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia attended the 34th Assembly of the International Centre for Archival Research (ICARUS) held in Budapest, Hungary.

The central theme of the meeting was "Archives Reflecting on the Challenges of the 21st Century – Migration and Sustainability." Archivists deliberated on the crucial role of archives in documenting and preserving the history of migration. In this regard, particular emphasis was placed on the development and accessibility of electronic databases for archival documents.

During the event, Giorgi Sopromadze, Deputy Director General of the National Archives, met with Birgit Kiball, President of ICARUS. The parties discussed future cooperation prospects and opportunities for joint initiatives.

The ICARUS Convention serves as a vital international professional platform. It facilitates the gathering of archival professionals from various countries, fostering deeper collaboration, encouraging the exchange of expertise and innovative initiatives, and enabling the implementation of joint projects. The National Archives of Georgia became a member of the International Centre for Archival Research (ICARUS) in 2013.
