British Experience In Electronic Archiving For National Archives Representatives

John Sheridan, Director of Digital Technologies of the National Archives of the United Kingdom, held an online session for the staff of the Information Technology Service of the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia.

Zviad Melkadze, Head of the Information Technology Service of the National Archives, briefed his British counterpart on the work done and planned by the National Archives of Georgia in the field of electronic archiving (eArchiving). For his part, the Director of Digital Technology of the British National Archives spoke about the UK experience in the field of electronic archiving, in particular, the issues of electronic archives policy and legislation, software, long-term storage of digital data. Talks at the meeting also touched on the possibilities of creating web archives and video archives, developing services in research halls, including in the field of genealogical research.

Collaboration with the UK National Archives on e-archives in the form of online discussions will continue in the future.
