Restoration of the old printed books of Scientific-informational Library of the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia began.
The Laboratory of Restoration and Microfilming already works on the following editions of the 18th – 19th centuries:
• “Daujdomeli”- Akathist, Tbilisi, 1790, printed in Erekle II press. The miniature of Annunciation is presented on the inserted page forgoing the text. The headings are decorated with flower ornaments. Alphabet - Georgian Mkhedruli;
• “Letter of privilege to the Russian noblemen”, St. Petersburg, 1811, in Russian and Georgian;
• “Self-tuition, considering grammar, morals teaching, speaking skills and dictionary in Russian and Georgian languages.” Author Goderdzi Phiralov, St. Petersburg, 1820, in Georgian and Russian;
• “Prayer book including different prays” (for Rome Catholics of Georgia), Constantinople, 1877, in Georgian;
• “Caucasian campaign pictures”, St. Petersburg, 1896. The album consists 60 pages and includes the paintings of German painter Teodor Gorshelt on the thematic of Caucasia. The paintings depict the military persons, as well as the everyday life of Caucasian peoples.
The restoration plan of books is already compiled after studying their physical conditions. The restoration process will last from one to three months, according to the damage degree of the books.
