The National Archives of Georgia has joined the International Association of Book and Paper Conservators (IADA), enabling the institution to gain access to global best practices, innovations, and new technologies in the field of restoration and to implement them into its work. IADA brings together professionals worldwide who specialize in book and paper restoration.
Membership in the association provides the National Archives with the opportunity to establish close connections with the global community of restorers, participate in seminars, symposiums and congresses organized by IADA, strengthen collaboration with professional organizations and gain access to specialized publications and resources.
The National Archives is committed to developing its restoration laboratory. The restorers work on vellum manuscripts as well as paper-based manuscripts and documents, books, miniatures, posters, drawings and photographs, ensuring the preservation and long-term safeguarding of the country’s cultural heritage.
