100 years have passed since the founding of the First Democratic Republic of Georgia. The study of this period is of a great importance in the research of the history of our state-building and of the recent past.

Important sources about the First Republic are kept in the fonds of the National Archives of Georgia. On the occasion of its 100th anniversary, the National Archives has launched a new project. As part of this project, electronic copies of the documents and related information have been posted in the electronic catalog.

At the first stage, several thousand documents of the so-called Harvard and Leville collections, preserved in the Central Historical Archive,  is now available in the catalog. This material was brought to Georgia in 1996-1997 by the efforts of Guram Sharadze and Mamia Berishvili and transferred to the National Archives.

The catalog will gradually include other documents of the First Republic, including the Mamia and Christine Berishvili fonds, the documents of which were handed over to the National Archives by Thierry Berishvili.

Documents in the electronic catalog can be found by fonds, limb dates, language, keywords and descriptions. The catalog provides a unique opportunity for historians and any citizen interested in 1918-1921 to search for the desired documents without leaving home and use them in research. This is an important support for Georgian and foreign scientists interested in this period.

At the same time, the e-catalog will help to raise the public awareness of the history of the First Democratic Republic of Georgia.
