February 25, 2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the occupation of independent Georgia by Bolshevik Russia. The presented exhibition is dedicated to this date.
Among the exhibits is the unique archival material, which provides interesting and trustworthy information about the unfortunate events that took place in Georgia 100 years ago. The exhibits include a map showing the route of the Red Army invasion of Georgia, calls from government officials to fight for the homeland, and newspaper articles and photos depicting the war course.
For decades, Bolshevik Russia spread many false rumors about the Democratic Republic of Georgia. Their narrative, as if the government of the First Republic had surrendered the country without a fight, is refuted by the documents preserved in the National Archives of Georgia. The archival material clearly shows that Georgia has been trying to maintain its freedom for 6 weeks through military resistance.
