“According to the received data the first rated historical monument of Alaverdi, together with its curtain wall and buildings, is in a destitute condition because of your subordinated farming unit. A letter of the chairman of Antiquity Protection Committee, Sargis Kakabadze to pig-farming trust; he notes that the trust has made the church as a warehouse. Besides, the church is robbed and the church items are taken away, “among them were the items of historical importance as well”. Sargis Kakabadze requests to empty the church urgently, otherwise he will “report the chairman of the Central Executive Committee and the prosecutor of the Republic as well”. March 16, 1924.

მეფე დავით IV აღმაშენებლის ანდერძი შიომღვიმის მონასტრისადმი, 1123-1124 წლები. სარგის კაკაბაძემ 1910 წელს შეასრულა ამ საბუთის პალეოგრაფიული პირი. მოგვიანებით საბუთი, სხვა არქივებთან ერთად, ჩრდილოეთ კავკასიაში გადაიტანეს, სადაც მისი დიდი ნაწილი დაიღუპა, გადარჩა მხოლოდ ერთი კეფის ნაწილი. ამდენად, სარგის კაკაბაძის მიერ უშუალოდ ორიგინალიდან შესრულებული ზუსტი პალეოგრაფიული პირი ფასდაუდებელია. პალეოგრაფიული პირები ეროვნულ არქივს 1975 წელს საურმაგ კაკაბაძემ, სარგის კაკაბაძის შვილმა გადასცა.
Colophon of the King David IV Aghmashenebeli to Shiomghvime monastery, 1123-1124. In 1910 Sargis Kakabadze has made the paleographical copy of this very document. Later on the document, together with other archives were taken to the North Caucasus, where the most part was destroyed. Only the part of one leaf of parchment was rescued. So the exact paleographical copy of the original document is inestimable. . The document was transferred to the National Archives of Georgia by Saurmag Kakabadze in 1975.

Exhibition "Sargis Kakabadze" was held at the Exhibition Pavilion of the National Archives of Ministry of Justice of Georgia from June 7 till August 31, 2019
The exhibition featured material preserved in the family archive of historian, philologist and archivist Sargis Kakabadze: Kakabadze family photos and documents, unpublished and completely unknown scientific works, archaeological items belonging to Sargis Kakabadze, including rare numismatic materials; Interesting archival documents related to Sargis, David and Artem Kakabadze.
Sargis Kakabadze was one of the founders and later head of the National Archives of Georgia (at the time the Central Archives). Thanks to him, the funds of the National Archives were filled with important documents.
Sargis Kakabadze's unique personal archive is kept by his granddaughter Tsira Kalandadze. With her assistance the Historian's Archive was presented to the wide society at the National Archives' Exhibition Pavilion for the first time.
Sargis Kakabadze has the richest legacy: monographs, scholarly articles, epistolary heritage, photographs, invaluable documentation of the Georgian treasure movement, which is unpublished so far, has not been put into scientific circulation. The current exhibition at the National Archives is the first step to make these material public.
