Exhibition of Italian alpinist and photographer Vittorio Sella was held at the Exhibition Pavilion of the National Archives of Georgia on May 5-13, 2018 within the framework of the "Kolga" photo festival.
The exhibition featured works by Vittorio Sella, who during his first non-European expeditions were tape-recorded in Georgia - Svaneti and Racha, whom he visited three times in 1889-1890 and 1896. During these expeditions, Sella hunted down and photographed over thirty peaks in the Caucasus, twenty of which captured the first. Later, especially for the Caucasian expeditions, Vittorio Sella was awarded the Order of Saint Anna because his contribution to photography except mountaineering and mountaineering proved invaluable from a topographic point of view - many of which were corrected in European academic papers on geography.
The collection was handed over to the National Archives of Georgia in 1983 by translator and director Revaz (Rezo) Tabukashvili. He found Selma's works in Italy. The collection combines ethnographic portraits and artistic landscapes depicting Svaneti and Racha, which Vittorio Sella took on a trip to Georgia.
